Video Competition 2017: Terms & Conditions of Entry
Submission Deadline: 31 May 2017
- Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry. Entry into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry.
- This contest is open to both individuals and teams. There is no minimum or maximum number of members for a team submission. A representative or leader should, however, be designated in the case of a team submission. Entry is open to 2 categories.
Category:
- Secondary School Category
- Public Category
- Each entry must have a footnote bearing the name of the participant(s).
- For “Secondary School Category”, the video must be submitted with the school name and acknowledged by the school principal.
- Video submission under “Public Category” is not subjected to this regulation.
- The promotion commences on 1 April 2017 and concludes on 31 May 2017 (“Promotional Period”).
- The theme for World Water Day 2017 is “Water and Wastewater”. Contest participants must create a video which will highlight the need to reduce, reuse and replenish wastewater as a valuable resource.
- To enter the competition, create a 8-10 minutes video, burn into disc and send it to the address below:
- There is no restriction on the number of entries allowed per person. The person submitting the video must be the creator of the video and it does not include copyright material belonging to any other party without providing written permission to use that material.
- Entries will be deemed to be accepted at the time of receipt and not at the time of transmission. Incomplete, inaudible or incomprehensive entries will be deemed invalid. No responsibility will be taken for lost, late or misdirected entries.
- Copyright of the submitted video remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of winning one of the of the prizes, each entrant grants a worldwide royalty-free perpetual licence to SWB to feature any or all of the submitted materials in any and all media for publicity and marketing purposes. This implies that any entry can be used for promotional purposes.
- All contest participants grant SWB the perpetual licence to copy, edit, display, publish and make available their submission materials and agree that SWB and partner/s may publish their names in connection with this video contest and the World Water Day Campaign.
- It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that all videos have been taken with the permission of the subject(s) (or, where the submission shows any underage persons, the consent of their parent) and/or venue/location/photo or sound owner and does not infringe on the copyright of any third party. Entrants guarantee that they own the copyright for the submissions and for the usage rights required by the contest, and that their entry does not infringe on the privacy rights, copyright or any other rights of any person.
- The entrant further agrees to indemnify, hold and save harmless and defend at his/her own expense, SWB, its officials and persons performing services for SWB against any claims, suits, liability, and demands made by any third parties in respect of such infringement or other hazards that may be suffered by the entrant as a result of his/her participation in this contest.
- SWB reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who SWB has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion. SWB’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
- All entries become the property of SWB and will not be returned. SWB collects personal information in accordance with Privacy Policy. If you do not provide your personal information, SWB will not be able to enter you into this competition.
- Entries close on 31 May 2017. There will be one judging at the conclusion of the promotional period. Submissions will be judged based on originality, creativity, clarity, style and evidence of serious research effort.
- All judging will take place at SWB Salim Treatment Plant by a panel nominated by the General Manager of SWB. The panel’s decision is final and not appealable. All winners will be notified by post.
- Only one(1) video will be selected from each category and will be awarded prizes as follows:
- The prizes will be delivered to the winners in person during prize giving ceremony. The date and venue of the prize giving ceremony will be notified to the winners by post. Winners must present a photo ID on collection of prize.
- If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, SWB reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize equal or of greater value, subject to state regulation.
- SWB reserves the right to validate and check the authenticity of any prize claim or entry before awarding the prize.
- SWB’s decision in relation to any aspects of the competition is final and binding on every person who enters and no correspondence will be entered into.
- SWB and their associated agencies, and companies associated with this promotion will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit.
- In the event that for any reason whatsoever a winner does not take an element of the prize at the time stipulated by SWB then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the Prize.
- This competition is not eligible to SWB staff or immediate family member of SWB staff.
